HandyEvidence

Blood flow restriction training pressure calculation.

About the calculator

This tool has been based on the study by Loenneke et al. (2015). It will allow you to calculate the exercising pressure for upper limb Blood Flow Restriction Training (BFRT).

Disclaimer: You should screen your own clients and make sure that there are no contraindications for the use of Blood flow restriction training (BFRT). You should check the results obtained from this tool with your own calculations. The same pressure cuff utilised to measure blood pressure needs to be utilised to deliver BFRT.

For additional information on safety issues related to BFRT, please refer to the study by Patterson et al. (2019)

How to use the tool

Enter values below to calculate the pressure required for blood flow restriction training.

Systolic: Systolic blood pressure (mmHg).

Diastolic: Diastolic blood pressure (mmHg).

Arm Circumference: Arm circumference (cm) measured at the middle point between the acromion and lateral epicondyle.
